International Shipping Restrictions: What You Can & Cannot Ship from Poland 2026
International Shipping Restrictions: What You Can and Cannot Send from Poland
Shipping goods internationally requires compliance with strict aviation safety rules (IATA) and destination country customs regulations.
At PolandExportFlow, we want your packages to arrive safely and without delays. Before you make a purchase on Allegro or OLX, please review the 6 main categories of prohibited or restricted items.
This guide is based on standard regulations enforced by major carriers like FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
1. Flammable & Hazardous Goods
Safety comes first. Items containing flammable substances or pressurized gases are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG) and are generally prohibited in standard air freight.

- Aerosols: Deodorants, hairsprays, spray paints (Explosion risk).
- Flammable Liquids: Perfumes, nail polish, paints, solvents, thinners.
- Batteries: Loose lithium-ion batteries and power banks are strictly prohibited. (Batteries contained inside equipment are usually accepted).
2. Food & Perishable Items
Shipping food requires adherence to sanitary regulations. Customs agencies (like the FDA in the USA) are very strict about what enters the country.

- Prohibited: Fresh meat, dairy products, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and homemade food without labels. These items can spoil or carry pests.
- Accepted: Factory-sealed, non-perishable dry goods (e.g., sweets, coffee, pasta, dry spices) are generally safe to ship.
3. Health & Controlled Substances
Medical products are heavily regulated. Just because an item is available over-the-counter in Poland does not mean it is legal to import elsewhere.

- Prohibited: Prescription medications, steroids, and products containing CBD or Hemp.
- Note: Supplements often require specific documentation to clear customs.
4. High-Value Items
To ensure the security of your shipment, certain valuables have restrictions regarding insurance and carrier liability.

- Restricted: Cash, currency, coins, active credit cards, and precious stones/metals.
- Recommendation: For high-value jewelry or specialized items, please contact us beforehand to discuss insurance options.
5. Alcohol & Tobacco Products
These items are subject to high excise taxes and complex import laws in most countries (USA, UK, Canada).
- Restrictions: Shipping alcohol (vodka, beer, wine) and tobacco products (cigarettes, vaping liquids, heated tobacco) to private individuals is often prohibited or restricted by standard couriers.
- Advice: Please verify with our team before purchasing these items, as packages containing undeclared alcohol may be returned or seized.
6. Dangerous Goods & Weapons
We strictly adhere to international laws regarding public safety.

- Prohibited: Firearms, ammunition, weapon replicas, knives, stun guns, and pepper sprays.
- Explosives: Fireworks, flares, and airbag pretensioners (Class 1 explosives).

We Verify Your Packages
When your items arrive at our warehouse in Poland, we perform a routine inspection. If we identify a prohibited item (e.g., a loose lithium battery or aerosol), we may need to remove it to ensure the rest of your shipment complies with air transport regulations.
